Update to the go fund me. Thinking about changing the name to #justice4boobear at this rate.

I’m extremely upset about this, and on top of it his food is going to start costing upwards of $100 a month. The money will be separated into a different area of my bank account and only used for his food now. At this rate we have the funds for a couple months to feed him, but if this happens again it will cost $600 to treat. The condition is known as “a blocked tom” or urethral obstruction and there is no prevention besides this food. Even a natural diet will not prevent the issue from reoccurring.

Due to this I’ve updated the campaign to reflect the monetary cost of one year of care. This is with one obstruction per year. I’m trying to find a better paying job and have canceled all of my “fun” subscriptions to things like Hulu, Netflix, and ipsy. The cat comes first.

We have a good amount right now, and I’m so, so grateful to everyone who has— and is helping regardless of if it’s monetary or not. Over the past 24 hours I’ve been brought to tears more than once and can’t explain how incredible everyone is.

I may be taking my vet to court over this action, but as the update states— legal is a wild ride for animals and even cruelty isn’t properly managed in the world of law. It’s disheartening. I’m going to do whatever I can to ensure there’s some form of repercussion to the vet who oversaw Vergil, and the nurse who attended him. There’s no reason for this and it makes me so, so angry that my cat was neglected.

There’s being upfront about it, and then there’s sweeping it under the rug. Vergil deserves better.
