We are protesting peacefully, we don’t want more dead or injured people, we don’t want our people to look in the trash for food anymore, we don’t want our people to make lines to buy the things they need, we don’t want our people dying in the hospitals because there is no medicine or equipment, we don’t want our people to be killed because they didn’t have a good phone to be stolen, we don’t want our children dying of hunger, we don’t want our classmates to be arrested for no reason and tortured in jail, we don’t want our beloved ones dying because they decided to protest, ALL WE WANT IS OUR RIGHTS TO BE RESPECTED! OUR RIGHTS AS HUMANS! You don’t know HOW PAINFUL is living in here, knowing that there are mothers that die, hungry because they gave the last they had to feed their babies and somewhere else there are people of the government relaxing on a beach, buying Mercedes Benz, or having a fancy dinner.  Yesterday, april 19 people took the streets one more time and the government  did the same as always. THREE people died yesterday in the hands of the government. Nicolás Maduro sabe que esto se acabó. He knows! We venezuelans have had ENOUGH of you! 

Today, april 20, the people went back to the streets, and it happened the same way. I was in my apartment and suddenly a lot of gnb (military police) appeared in the street. The people, that is really REALLY mad at them, started yelling and insulting them, they are murderers. The gnb started shooting at the buildings (some windows are broken) and then used lacrimogen gas on us. THEY ARE SHOOTING WITH GAS THE BUILDINGS WHERE ARE CHILDREN, BABIES AND OLD PEOPLE! 

WE CAN’T STAND THIS ANYMORE! THIS GOVERNMENT, THE GOVERNMENT OF NICOLAS MADURO MOROS IS KILLING US AND THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW IN ORDER TO NOT LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU! CHOOSE YOUR POLITICIANS WISELY, PEOPLE, OR YOU COULD END WITH A CORRUPT, DRUG DEALER, MURDERER PRESIDENT

Oh, you poor thing.  Now you just brought hell upon yourself.  For one, that’s not a “study”.  That’s just a list of people who imitated something–people that were already fucked up to begin with, and would have likely imitated any act of violence from any source.  I’m literally just gonna copy-paste a previous post, because I detest repeating myself:

with me here, folks:  I’ve become increasingly tired of seeing the
argument that “FICTION IS REALITY!”, and I think it’s time to stomp some
sense into it.  It was bullshit when they tried to use the same argument against video games in the 90′s, it was bullshit when they tried to use it against horror movies and heavy metal music in the 80′s, and it’s bullshit now.

Let’s talk about the criminal mind for a moment.  It has been shown time and time again that criminals and abusers have a lack of function in the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for controlling our impulses, connecting our actions to their consequences, and having empathy for others.
Now, there are those out there with low functioning in these areas that
never harm a fly.  Why?  Because there are more ingredients required to
create an abuser.  How?  Not by “problematic” works of fiction:  They are primarily a result of broken homes, traumatic experiences, and–most importantly–parental abuse/neglect.  
Parental influence (or lack thereof) has been directly linked to lack of function in the brain, and behavioral issues, meaning that their time in the crib had a far greater influence on them than anything they will ever read, see, or hear.  When
nature and nurture have come together to create a psychopath, they have
molded an individual that is disconnected from reality in a very
dangerous way.  It takes many factors working together to create
people capable of committing abuse.  No amount of fiction changes a
person’s upbringing, genetics, or brain function.  These are not average
people.  They are a very, very small minority of people that are fully,
completely aware that their behavior is wrong–they simply lack the inhibition to not go out and do it, and the empathy to care.  They would be this way regardless of the media they consumed, and removing them from it would change nothing, except potentially causing them to actively seek out the real thing, which–unlike fictional media–causes real, physical harm.

TL;DR: Not everyone who reads fiction even has the ability
to act out in ways they know are morally wrong: A well-adjusted person
(including most with lower-functioning empathy) knows and understands
the consequences for such behavior.  They are still able to connect
their actions to how they may affect others, which–in turn–keeps those
actions in check.  The people that do act out inappropriately are already broken, and would act out regardless
of whatever they see or hear (especially if they are already into or
past adolescence, as the majority of brain growth takes place from
infancy to early preschool).

Essentially, the people that might act out in violence would do so regardless of media input.  Telling them “This is WRONG!” wouldn’t stop them, because they’re already aware that it’s wrong and simply do not fucking care.

Even an actual horror movie had the self-awareness to point this out.

In short: You’re ignorant and uneducated in this matter, and you have nothing to substantiate your claims, while there is a shit ton of scientific and psychological study proving you wrong.

PAYPAL IS SHUTTING DOWN ACCOUNTS THAT WERE OPENED BEFORE YOU WERE 18.  

Sharing this here because I know this will affect a LOT of artists here. 

PLEASE share this, this is super urgent and I don’t want any of you losing your funds. 

Seriously, this is not a joke or scam. Check the comments of that Medium article, or the Reddit comments. 

Apparently PayPal will try to re-ban you if you use the same cards or whatnot, so if you need an alternative, try Google Wallet. (Because Google won’t let a damn industry go untouched.) 

If you see your work as more as a business, try Stripe.

Okay so this case needs a little bit more of explanation because there’s no need to panic

The first thing that you need to realise is that you not being 18 is a serious legal issue not only for PayPal, but for ANY OTHER FIRM PROVIDING THIS KIND OF SERVICE. This includes the “alternatives” like Google Wallet and others. It is clearly stated in their TOS (which you are supposed to get familiar with before using their service). Therefore, if you made an account before being 18 then you, and let me repeat that, YOU are in the wrong here, not them.

“But nobody reads these” my dude this is LAW, REAL CORPORATIONS and REAL MONEY we’re talking about here. It’s more than obvious that they won’t fuck around when it comes to the legal measures. Should any outside entity learn about your little lie it can result in something more serious that this, drag both PayPal and you down. You gotta realise that in real life rules exist for a reason.

Now to the money part:

To tone down the stress I’m gonna say it right now that your money is safe.

This situation happened to me as I made an account when I was 17, so believe me when I tell you I know first hand what I am talking about. After a year of using it (so when I was already 18) PayPal asked me to see my ID to verify some info. After the verification it turned out I made the account when I was underage so they had to “shut it down” WHICH IS A VERY POOR WAY TO DESCRIBE IT.

The accounts are not being “shut down” and your money doesn’t “disappear” or whatever – PayPal blocks the option to send or withdraw money so your account is simply out of use. As we learned before, you broke their rules so they HAVE TO do something about it.

If you had read that oh so heart gripping story from one of OP’s links you would see this screenshot attached to it, which is PayPal informing them about their situation:

Oh? But wait!! Could it be???? That half of the email was cut off?????

In the second part of the email PayPal politely informs you that the problem can be easily solved by making a new account. Are you seeing that last sentence in the screenshot? “To continue using our service please open a new PayPal account”? Yeah, that.

Then, the email informs you that you will need to send PayPal a message from the new account that you would like your money transferred to the new account. Basically, you message them “hi this is my new account, my old one was XYZ, could you please transfer my money to this account?” and that’s it.

The money will be on your new account within 5 days MAX.

In conclusion: No money lost, PayPal solved their legal issue and you have a new, fresh, bombing legal account. No one goes to jail, everyone is happy. No fees, no nothing. As if you had never crossed any lines or broken the law.

TL;DR YOUR MONEY IS SAFE

There’s a reason why PayPal is one of the most reliable services out there that so many other companies decide to trust. When you’re buying something online and you have the PayPal option accessible, why do you think it’s there? Because that’s just how it is? No. At one point the companies had to struck a deal, that’s why you can pay safely. And let me tell you, no company will skip reading the rules nor will they decide to trust a shady firm. Companies are real deals that operate under millions of regulations and are directly exposed to law (just like you tbh) and that’s why they’re strict about their rules. And you should be too.

Ps. If currently you are under 18 with PayPal account, don’t stress it ok? They won’t try to verify you until you start dealing tons of money or after a certain time period. But by then you will be 18, hopefully. So, chillex my dude it’s okay.
