Attention ALL artists!

You sure have seen this post. It has spread like wildfire over the past few days so I doubt there is any artist out there who hasn’t seen it. But even if you didn’t, you should read on because I’m about to tell you a handy little thing that can help you to protect your art from such assholes as the anon who submitted this bullcrap, as well as art thieves in general.

The magic word is Metadata.

Metadata is like an invisible signature that is embeded into a file. It can contain all kinds of information, like Title, date, keywords for online seach engines, and copyright information. And the best thing is, since this information is “hidden” in the code of your picture, it’s hard to remove it.

There is a nice basic tutorial on how to add Metadata, or “additional file information” to your images in photoshop. It’s really, really easy so check it out!

“Adding Your Contact And Copyright Info To Your Photos With Photoshop” on PhotoshopEssentials.com

I’m not sure if you can do the same with any other art program. If you know how to do this in other programs / can confirm that it works the same way there, please tell me so I can add the information to this post.

Adding the Metadata will not stop idiots from taking and reposting your art. It also won’t make them stop editing out your signature. It WILL however, help you prove that you are the original artist whenever you have to.
Always remember my friends. You, the artist, are protected by law. No one has the right to take your intellectual property and hard work and repost, use or edit it without your permission. Ever.

art thief: well how can you prove its yours??

me: /opens metadata

I spread the word as it is important to all artist who ever suffered from art thieving or so.

You guys, metadata is super important, you guys. In an everday and legal sense. People legitimately look at and rely on metadata to know the basic, but important bits of information about a digital product (paintings, photographs, exe files, etc.), ESPECIALLY the source.

Don’t underestimate it!

I apologise too fucking much and I hate it because it makes people uncomfortable and like they did something wrong and they tell me I don’t need to because I didn’t do anything wrong but I don’t know that. I never do. I apologise, I’m told I don’t need to, I wanna apologise again because I messed up but that’ll get people more upset and I get more upset

I just want to know when I really do stuff wrong and trust people’s judgements. I hate this so fucking much

I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I’ve finally decided to go ahead with a gofundme. If you have the time, please read the “SHORT” or “LONG VERSION” of my situation. If you think this is a worthwhile cause, even a mere $5 will help. Thank you for taking the time to read this post!

I feel like I might as well say it…

I have my own Discord server!

…and I’m so far the only member lol

I’m a bit nervous about saying this because I’ve never run a whole server before. However, as time goes on, I will include other members as mods to help me run the server. I don’t plan on it being a strict, rule-heavy place, and will try to focus on keeping it relaxed and friendly. There will still be rules, however.

The server’s main theme is just to generally chill out and talk about whatever you like.

If you would like to join, send me a PM and I’ll invite you!

This is the next move to restore net neutrality

If it feels like you’re fighting battles on every side, you’re not alone. The struggle is terrifyingly real. But we can still make this year the best possible version of 2018 it can be. There’s a new opportunity in to restore strong net neutrality protections: The Congressional Review Act.

What is the Congressional Review Act?

The CRA lets the House and Senate repeal administrative laws—rules and regulations set by governmental agencies—with a simple majority in both houses. The resolutions can’t be blocked by leadership, amended, or filibustered.

This congress has used the CRA more than any other to overturn regulations that protect vulnerable people and the environment, but this time we can use it for a good purpose—to reverse the FCC’s decision and restore net neutrality.

We just need #OneMoreVote

Battle For The Net has secured commitments from 50 senators. One more and we can take this fight to the House. These are the targets:

  • John Kennedy (Louisiana) | 202-224-4623 | Email
  • John McCain (Arizona) | 202-224-2235 | Email
  • Orrin Hatch (Utah) | 202-224-5251 | Email
  • Dean Heller (Nevada) | 202-224-6244 | Email

If you live in these states, we need you. Even if you don’t, you can still help the cause.

Go to battleforthenet.com to write or call your representatives.

Tell them to support the “Resolution of Disapproval” and overturn the FCC’s December 14 “Restoring Internet Freedom” vote.

Have you seen this Sydney teenager? Abigail Brewster is missing

Yesterday, my friend Abigail Brewster went missing.

Abigail is 160cm tall, of Pacific Islander background, and has curly, black shoulder length hair. She was last seen riding her blue pushbike away from her house at Lurnea in South Western Sydney, NSW on Sunday the 25th of February, 2018.

As cliché as it sounds, Abi is one of the sweetest girls I know. I’ve known her since primary school and our families are close. Abigail always comes up to me on the playground to ask how I am and talk about school, even when I’m sour or downright awkward. She is so, so forgiving and it’s completely out of character for her to even consider running away. The Brewster family live in my area, which is known for a number of child predators and an otherwise relatively high crime rate, which is one of the many reasons I hope for her quick return home. Her family and friends miss her dearly and pray for her safety.

I know that many of you may not be able to help physically, but please reblog and repost this article anywhere possible, because chances are it will eventually reach someone who can.

Thanks for reading, and remember that every share counts.

UPDATE:

Police have reported that Abigail Brewster was sighted in the Campbelltown area by a resident. The witness said they were confident in verifying the girls identity and that Abigail appeared safe.

However, police are yet to locate her.

Liverpool Police crime manager Dean Johnstone said police believe the incident could likely be a run away.

This does not mean that Abigail is currently safe, so please stay vigilant if you are in or around the Campbelltown area.

Please please please signal boost this! Even if you’re international you never know who this will reach!

This is so close to home , I hope she is safe

21 People Who Forgot A Word And Just Made Some Shit Up

im crying

a friend of mine forgot the word “lamp” once and said “light faucet”

I’m shaking from laughter. Yes, this is the right way to start a Friday morning.

Listen guys, I have a BA in English and an MA in Professional Writing and I have:

Forgotten the word “gums” and called them “teeth cuticles”
Forgotten the term “liquor store” and called it a “rum-o-rama”
Forgotten the word “mohawk” and called it a “head mustache”

The list goes on and on. Wording is HARD.

You know that putty you put in holes before you paint a wall? I forgot the word “putty,” called it “hole-be-gone” instead, and now my whole family refers to it as hole-be-gone.

it’s hard to make the brain do the english, ok!?

I wish I had this skill.
When I lose a word, my brain derails. I use the term ‘derail’ because it is the mental equivalent of a train derailment (just easier to clean up)

At the staff meeting, my boss referred to the clipboard as “that snappy board”

My 4-year-old nephew didn’t know the word “knuckle” so he told us his finger knee hurt.

I have, on more than one occasion, referred to a spoon as a ‘food digger’.

My mom once forgot the word “band” and called it a “song team”

I was once playing a game and had to describe the word ‘grope’ without saying the word so I described it as ‘hugging without consent’
